What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup is calculated as a percentage of the cost price. Margin is calculated as a percentage of the selling price. For example, if you buy something for โน100 and sell it for โน150: the markup is 50% (profit รท cost), but the margin is 33.3% (profit รท selling price). Both matter in business โ use this calculator to see both at once.
How do I calculate percentage increase?
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, then multiply by 100. So if a price went from โน200 to โน250: (250 โ 200) รท 200 ร 100 = 25% increase. The % Change tool above does this automatically.
